Cheerleading Competition Levels in USA

All star cheerleading levels aren’t completely understood by most athletes and parents.
The following is a simplistic guide to help you. (Rough guide only.)

Remember that having Most of the skills at a certain level does not make you that level.

You can not be certified at a specific level unless you can perform all of the skills required within that level and all prior levels.

TUMBLING LEVELS

Level 1

Running Tumbling
Front  walkover / cartwheel / round-off

Standing Tumbling
Forward / Backward Roll
Cartwheel. Front and back walkover

Level 2

Running Tumbling
Round-off multiple back-handsprings

Standing Tumbling
Single Back handspring

Level 3

Running Tumbling
Round-off back-handspring back tuck
Punch front forward roll through to tuck

Standing Tumbling
Multiple jumps back hand spring
Multiple standing back handsprings

Level 4

Running Tumbling
Running round-off back-handspring / whip layout
Punch front step-out though to layout

Standing Tumbling
Back handspring to back tuck
Standing tuck
Multiple jumps to back handspring back tuck

Level 5

Running Tumbling
Round-off back-handspring full twisting layout

Standing Tumbling
Quad jump back tuck
Standing full (Not required, but exceptional)

The USASF sets out these levels with safety as the primary goal.

Coaches are usually fully aware of the individual skills of their athletes and the
importance of perfection before progression.
Cheerleaders will then move through the levels in a safe responsible manner.
